Stop Now Foundation Partners with San Antonio ISD to Bring Anti-Trafficking Education to Schools

Protecting Students: Education as Prevention

Stop Now Foundation is proud to announce a new partnership with San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) to deliver age-appropriate human trafficking prevention education to students in grades 6 through 12.

The program — called “Real Talk: Recognizing Exploitation” — was developed in collaboration with licensed school counselors, trauma-informed educators, and survivors who have firsthand knowledge of how traffickers target young people.

Why Schools Are Critical

Young people aged 12–17 make up a significant proportion of trafficking victims identified in the United States. Traffickers specifically target schools, social media, and after-school spaces to recruit victims. They look for teens who are experiencing family difficulties, social isolation, or economic hardship.

“The best time to reach young people is before traffickers do,” said Stop Now Foundation’s education director. “Our curriculum teaches students to recognize manipulation tactics, trust their instincts, and speak up when something feels wrong — whether it’s happening to them or a friend.”

What the Program Covers

  • Understanding healthy vs. unhealthy relationships
  • Recognizing grooming and manipulation tactics used by traffickers
  • Online safety and safe social media use
  • How to report concerns safely and confidentially
  • Resources available to students who need help
